Spili


A mountain centre, south-east of Rethymnon


Spili is famous for its springs, its bishops seat and its handcrafted and agricultural  products. The oldest cultivated vineyards on Crete are to be found in the region. Very good wine, raki and honey are produced here. The tavernas invite you to stop for a while.

Visit the surrounding villages, such as Mixorouma and Akounta.

It is also worth making a small diversion to explore the Kissos and Fratianos Gorges.
