 Ayia Galini

A tourist resort on the south coast, with vibrant nightlife.

The village lies on the site of ancient Soulia. This was the harbour of Sivritos, the ruins of which are being excavated in the place called Thronos on the western side of Mount Psiloritis. During the last century, Ayia Galini was a small settlement and served as a logging centre.
The village offers everything necessary for a pleasant holiday. Boats go daily from here to the beautiful sandy beaches in the vicinity. Its name derives from that of the church, which is dedicated to Christ the Serene (Galinios). The river Platys has its mouth on the beach at Ayia Galini.
